Our client, Kan 11, came to us with a vision of wanting to take their news coverage to the next level, and with the 2022 elections coming around the corner it seemed fitting as a jump-start to the new transformation.
Our challenge was to create a new way of delivering news—an interactive live coverage experience—that would be innovative and engaging both for the news anchors and for the viewers at home.
Our focus was to break down complex amounts of live data into different categories in a way that would be easy to comprehend, while remaining flexible enough for the news anchor to freely present with on screen.
To find the right visual language for this project we tested out many different directions, from light vs. dark modes, trying out different color palettes of purples and blues, and playing with layouts that would make it possible to portray such large amounts of interchanging data on screen.

A big portion of the work that went into creating this project was the drill down of how everything would function, in such a way that would be easy to teach the flow to any news anchor and that the audience would be able to follow along smoothly.
The flow was separated into an interconnected hierarchy of pages, data layouts, a navigation menu and a tool bar.
After running through many different UX flows, the best visual solution we found that could successfully unite all functions together was through the use of a navigation menu. The menu's main function is to allow usage of navigation and tools in an adaptable way, so that the news anchor can utilize them at any moment on screen.
The menu opens on command when at least three fingers are simultaneously pressed on screen, opening up in the area surrounding the hand. Use the menu to move to a new screen, add a widget for displaying new data and information, play a video, open dual screen comparisons, and more.
